Offense

Since most of my flying is performed at low altitude & at high speed, most of these tips are based on that type of scheme.

Perhaps the most widely used tactic in Comanche Gold today is known as the slide. If you were to ask people where it originated, most would probably not know. They just know that when they started flying in the skies of gold, the slide was a tremendous adversary that required immediate mastery.

How much tail fan & how hard you bank is determined by where you want to face. The harder the bank, the more speed. The more speed you have, the harder it is to slide the aircraft at sharper yaw angles.
This method is chosen to demonstrate the manuever but the manuever can be performed in many flight profiles.

This is the time to unload a couple of select shots or if they are close enough, drill ‘em with the cannon.

To return to straight & level flight, simply disengage the fan tail & level the cyclic.

After learning the basic move, try doing variations. Perform the slide in one direction then flip around and continue sliding facing the opposite direction.

Manuevers

The Slide can be performed as either an offensive or a defensive maneuver. That is part of the reason that this is a “must know” tactic.
